Changes to our Solutions and Healthier Solutions PMI cover

From 1 March 2021, our private medical insurance (PMI) takes off again.

Our changes to Solutions (for SME clients) and Healthier Solutions (for individuals) show that Aviva doesn’t stay in the same place for long. From 1 March 2021 our propositions refresh will bring a number of changes meaning simpler, better quality and more sustainable cover for your clients.

We make life easier for our customers. With Expert Select we take on all the work of selecting specialists and hospitals by signposting clients to the most appropriate treatment provider, leaving you and your clients to focus on what’s important.

Expert Select

New to our core cover on both products

Expert Select draws upon our breadth of clinical and customer service expertise to deliver quality, sustainable healthcare to help meet members’ needs. We take on all the work of selecting specialists and hospitals, leaving you and your clients to focus on what’s important. Expert Select helps signpost clients to the most appropriate treatment provider. It’s a supportive, open referral approach to healthcare that can deliver real value.

 

We provide quality, choice and speed for clients

Our recommendations will be based on each individual’s diagnostic or treatment needs, making sure they get appropriate, quality care. We use Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Health Improvement Scotland ratings to select hospitals and only recommend specialists who meet their relevant governing body standards. At their first call with our claims consultants, your clients are offered a choice of specialists and hospitals. Once your clients decide, we can arrange appointments there and then. On average we offer clients three or four hospitals, depending on their home location. When treatment is over, we’ll settle their eligible bills in full, directly with the treatment provider.

For existing Healthier Solutions and Solutions clients, the good news is they can move to Expert Select if they wish at renewal.

Solutions

Solutions is our flexible PMI product for businesses. It gets members access to private medical treatment at a nationwide selection of hospitals and clinics, while its added value benefits can also help employers address health and risk factors in the workplace.

Our propositions refresh has seen us change our Solutions PMI cover meaning simpler, better quality, more sustainable cover for your SME clients.

We’ve made a number of exciting additions to our core cover including the introduction of Expert Select, a new guided hospital option that supports your clients’ members to make informed choices about their healthcare. In addition, you’ll now also find that Mental Health Pathway comes as standard in core cover offering SMEs mental health support for their employees.

In addition, we've also made some other changes you and your clients should be aware of. We've ensured customers get the benefit they expect by covering surgical procedures in full on policies with a reduced out-patient limit. We've also altered our approach to excesses, removed the emergency overseas benefit and clarified our cancer cover.

There is also the option to book their first specialist appointment there and then. This improved clinical quality also results in greater cost efficiency and affordability for your clients.

Mental Health Pathway

Through the introduction of the Mental Health Pathway into Solutions core cover, we’re enhancing our mental health offering to address a growing need for prompt, personalised support for mental health conditions.

We want to help your clients keep their employees well and effective in their roles. With early intervention and the right support, they can minimise the impact of absenteeism and help improve recovery and return to work rates.

Enhanced cancer cover

We understand the importance of providing extensive cover and support at every stage of cancer treatment.

Our cancer pledge means we’ll cover the cancer treatment and palliative care our customers need, as recommended by their specialist. We want to make things as comfortable as possible following their cancer treatment, so we’ll provide extensive cover for aftercare, including consultations with a dietician, as well as money towards prostheses and a wig.

What’s changed?

  • We’ve removed the 10-year limit on follow-up (monitoring) consultations.
  • We’ve extended cover to include preventative bisphosphonates, which can help certain cancers from re-occurring.
  •  We’ve made it clearer that, in some circumstances, employees have the option to choose where they are treated, in hospital or at home if it’s more comfortable for them.

Healthier Solutions is our award-winning individual private medical insurance (PMI) product designed for individual clients. With prompt access to diagnostic tests, eligible private medical treatment at over 400 UK hospitals, it could help reduce some of those lengthy waiting times and help them return to their normal routine sooner. 

Our propositions refresh has seen us change our Healthier Solutions PMI cover meaning simpler, better quality, more sustainable cover for your Individual clients.

We’ve made a number of changes including enhancing our cancer benefits even more to include the removal of the 10-year limit on follow-up (monitoring) consultations as well as extending cover to include preventative bisphosphonates, which can help stop certain cancers from re-occurring.

In addition, we’ve introduced Expert Select into our core cover. Expert Select is a new guided hospital option that supports your clients’ to make informed choices about their healthcare.

We've also made some other changes you and your clients should be aware of.
