TIME:TO - spotlight the importance of regional presence
Next month’s BIBA 2026 conference theme, TIME:TO, is all about embracing the moment, taking decisive action and driving meaningful change. This year, we want to spotlight some of the ways we’ve brought that theme to life. First up: our regional presence and how we’re supporting you and your clients across the UK.
TIME:TO – spotlight your regional standing, reinforced by our local presence
Our recent Broker Barometer survey found that almost nine in ten brokers want to work with insurers that have a strong regional presence – an increase of 12% year on year1. Here at Aviva, we work from 15 locations across the UK - bringing together our specialists in underwriting, distribution, risk management, client relationships and claims, delivering locally accessible end-to-end support for you and your clients.
“Brokers continue to tell us that strong relationships and face-to-face engagement are central to their success. With the largest broker footprint in the UK, our focus is on understanding what brokers and customers need, keeping our service as responsive as possible, and making sure we meet the promises we make.” Michael Yabantu, Managing Director, Mid-Market.

Wendy Travers: We have an edge having underwriters based in the region, because it's a way of life for them.
So it's the places that they visit, the shops that they go to, the industrial sites that they drive past every day.
All that local knowledge allows us then to write the risk in the region, understanding the risks, and ensure that we deliver the very best insurance.
Lee Grainger: They're on the doorstep of all of our brokers, meaning that they can really get into our brokers' offices, trade with them, engage face-to-face, which is massively important across the region.
Majority, if not all, of our underwriters are multi-class, which means that when an insurance presentation risk hits their desk, they're able to understand the full risk itself, whether that be across property, casualty, liability, or motor.
This just means one point of contact that understands the customer's full risk and works with the broker.
Jon Craker: Aviva's approach to serving brokers is to provide local underwriting talent that know the local market, that are able to offer really timely decision-making.
Recently, one of our brokers presented us with a large new business opportunity.
We brought together our win team, which included a client relationship manager, a claim service manager, our Aviva risk manager, and our trading underwriters, all working together to tailor a solution for the broker and client, really bringing the very best of Aviva to that client.
