Meet Linzie Barnes and learn how we can support you with apprenticeships

The current recruitment landscape can be highly competitive. According to our 2024 Broker Barometer survey, 94% of brokers are actively recruiting for various reasons1. While brokers such as yourself provide good opportunities for career development, the market dynamics make it hard to attract, train and retain talent.

Linzie Barnes, our Broker Learning and Development Consultant, says: “By exploring the world of apprenticeships, brokers can attract new talent for their business. Having a structured apprenticeship programme allows the talent to gain hands-on experience and knowledge through their everyday work.”

Here at Aviva, we can help you run a successful apprenticeship programme that helps you attract, train and retain talent. And to do that, we’ve teamed up with Davies Talent Solutions to create a structured apprenticeship programme that works with the needs of your business and enables recruits to gain a Certificate in Insurance from the CII and a Level 3 Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship qualification.

A key advantage of apprenticeships is that they open the talent pool beyond typical graduates. You can identify promising individuals from various backgrounds - from eager young talent to career-changing professionals and cultivate their potential.

Looking back at how she began in the insurance industry, Linzie says: "I began my journey as a Learning and Development professional through an apprenticeship programme within the insurance industry. While the world of insurance was entirely new territory for me, the programme provided a fantastic platform to develop my skills and knowledge.”

Linzie is now a key member of our Broker Learning and Development team and helps brokers and apprentices gain the most out of the programme. If you’re currently thinking of recruiting a new apprentice or developing an existing member of staff, Linzie is your go-to contact at Aviva.

We’re open for applications for our 2024 Broker Apprenticeship programme and there are 50 places in total. In England, there is the Aviva levy to help fund apprenticeship training and it’s not just funding that’s available; we also provide full access to training materials and courses on the Aviva Development Zone, plus complimentary workshops to help support the apprentices’ development2
