Profiles, passions and the Future Leader Programme

This month we’ve spoken to some of our 2019 Future Leader Programme delegates about their passions at work. With recruitment for the class of 2020 opening in July, it also seemed a great opportunity to find out how they rate their experience so far on the programme.

Craig Wilson, Account Executive at Stanmore Insurance Brokers Ltd., recognises team work as one of his favourite parts of his role and he’s passionate about building effective teams. Craig wants to develop senior leadership and delegation skills through the programme and said “it’s been so interesting listening to the different mentors tell their own stories of their journey and share their advice with us. Whether it be big picture or a tiny nugget of information I’ve scribbled down, it’s been great to bring new ideas into the business.”

Mat Kiff, Corporate Team Leader at BHIB, enjoys the pace of change within the insurance sector and loves the opportunity to be agile in a challenging market. When asked about the programme Mat said “The course has exceeded all of my expectations, the quality of the content and calibre of the people involved is first-class, I can honestly say it’s changed my mindset and is improving me as a leader.”

Charlie Best is passionate about both teaching and learning in her role as Director of the Commercial Division at Cooke and Mason. Charlie wants to further develop her skills in financial and strategic planning. Charlie commented “For me, the Future Leader Programme is about giving you the confidence to make difficult decisions, learning to communicate effectively with your colleagues and gaining a more entrepreneurial view of business.  It's one of the best and most practical learning experiences I have encountered.”

Peter Lycett-Williams, Operations Director at AMB Insurance Services Ltd., loves the challenge of winning the trust of clients and helping them to understand the value that insurance policies and service adds to their business. Peter is always looking for ways to develop ahead of the local competition. Peter said “The course has been amazing, adding real value with personal skills, management skills and tools. Meeting respected members of the profession and the senior Aviva team is excellent. Last but not least is the networking opportunity with like minded people with a great positive mindset.”

Gareth Rowett, Account Executive at Rowett Insurance Broking Ltd., is passionate about networking and sees wider industry knowledge as a great development opportunity to help with growth and expansion plans. Gareth commented “The things I have learnt from some of the industry’s finest has been invaluable.  The delivery and professionalism of the course has been first-class and I would thoroughly recommend any future leaders to sign up.”
