What’s the process for changing policies to a different agency/broker or a different software house?

If you need to change a policy or policies to a different agency, please get in touch with your Broker Development Manager. You’ll need to provide:

  • the agency codes impacted
  • the date of the change
  • what the software house was before and after the change
  • the number of Personal Lines policies involved, if known, including a list of all policy numbers affected
  • products impacted - Home, Car or Van

You’ll need to rekey the policies through. Where possible we’ll implement pricing consistency – we’ll apply renewal terms to the policy when you key it into your system as ‘new business’ This means you won’t need an override code.

Pricing consistency is not the same as price matching; where a quote is completed on a new agency or SWH, there may be several factors which impact the ‘new business price’ calculated by the system, including:

  • differences in question sets
  • changes to commission
  • changes in how a risk has been declared to us

This approach ensures we remain compliant with GIPP (General Insurance Pricing Practices) as the ‘renewal price’ issued by Aviva will be equal to or lower than the ‘equivalent new business price’.

If the agency transfer has started before price consistency can be implemented, Live Chat can be used to resolve individual cases.
