New for digital Commercial Combined – launching our modular solution

As part of our ambition to support you in trading your way, we remain focused on delivering more enhancements to our Commercial Combined product. Earlier this year, we announced our intention to transition our product offering to a new modular solution, providing you with more flexibility around cover selection. This move will enable you to provide a tailored solution to match your clients’ unique needs and allow you to place more of your Commercial Combined business online.

What’s new?

We’re pleased to announce that our modular journey has begun, with Employers’ Liability (EL) and Legal Expenses (LEI) now becoming optional covers for new business customers with effect from 14 July 2025, on both Fast Trade and Acturis eTrade.

We’ve selected these covers for Phase 1 of our development based on broker feedback and trading insights. Removing these covers from our ‘core’ offering will enable us to provide you with greater flexibility and increase the number of quotes we’re able to deliver, allowing you to place more business online.

How does this affect your Aviva clients?

Existing customers will benefit from this change from renewal, where this falls on or after 25 August 2025.

We will continue to generate both Employers’ Liability and Legal Expenses cover sections for existing customers at renewal to ensure we’re not reducing cover levels. Therefore, we encourage you to review the cover needs of each client as they will now have more options available to them. And if your client doesn’t need these covers, you can simply deselect them to generate a more bespoke solution and price.

We also have a number of existing policies e.g. Charities, without a wage-roll declaration under the EL section. Where this is the case, our underwriters will contact you to discuss whether this cover is required at renewal and make the necessary changes in order to produce the renewal pack.

What’s next?

This enhancement is designed to elevate your digital trading experience with us, making trading online with Aviva easier, and more effective. And we’ll continue to increase this flexibility, de-packaging more covers under our Commercial Combined offering until we deliver you a fully modular product. Public and Products Liability will be the next covers to become modular and we’ll be in touch when this next enhancement is ready for roll-out.
