Why the key to profitable marketing is targeting the right audience

The key to profitable marketing is identifying your core audience and finding more of them. By defining your ideal client’s persona, you’re helping to pin-point the people who matter most to your business. You can then focus your resources on marketing to them and to people like them.
 

As a reminder, here are five fundamentals of successful marketing: 

  1. Be crystal clear about what defines your primary target audience (in many instances viewed as your ideal client).

  2. Make sure that your message/sales proposition is concise, eye catching and relevant to the needs and requirements of this particular audience – to make sure that they read, watch, listen or click on it.

    This message must also be credible (and therefore more likely to be remembered and immediately acted upon). Tools such as Google Reviews, testimonials and good quality, supportive copy/content are valuable ways to deliver credibility.

  3. Use the most cost-effective media channel, such as LinkedIn or email to publicise your message. Your customer satisfaction survey should tell you which media is favoured and trusted by your primary target audience.

  4. Define and set your primary objective, to evaluate your results against.

  5. Finally, make sure that the call-to-action is simple, easy to do and integrated to make it more effective.
