Changes to our minimum glass replacement excess for Commercial Motor

The minimum glass replacement excess across our main Fleet products (Minifleet and Your Fleet) has been £75 for over a decade. However, due to general inflation and the increase in the number of ADAS-enabled (Advanced Driver Assistance System) vehicles on the road, we need to increase this minimum glass replacement excess to £150.

Why are we making this change?

An example of an ADAS is Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). This is where the sensors of the system can be housed in the windscreen itself, which means that after an incident or where the glass needs replacing, this has to be re-calibrated (often at an approved garage) to make sure the efficacy of the system remains, which adds to the overall cost of replacement.

With vehicles becoming more connected and with an increasing amount of technology embedded, the number of ADAS-enabled vehicles on the road is only going to increase.

When is this change happening?

Your Fleet (CMI) policies

  • The changes will take place in mid-September for quotes and for renewals with an effective date of mid-December 2022.

Minifleet (MF1) policies

  • The changes will take place in mid-September for both quotes and renewals with an effective date of 1 January 2023 or later.

Motor Trade policies

  • The majority of Motor Trade policies already have this excess in place, but we’ll be reviewing any that don’t at the same time.

You won’t have to do anything as the changes will take place automatically. A Notice to Policyholder (NTP) will be issued with each renewal that outlines the changes.
