COVID-19 related claims: guidance for employers

We recently shared some claims insights from the last year and possible trends on the horizon that have come about as a result of the pandemic.

One of the trends identified is a potential increase in COVID-19 related Employers Liability claims, due to contracting the virus at work for example, or because of musculoskeletal problems from an unsuitable home working environment.

Remain vigilant

As we start to see more and more businesses opening up in the coming months, it’s important to understand we are not out of the woods yet and employers have a responsibility to carry out due diligence to keep their employees physically and mentally safe.

As such, we've joined up with one of our trusted solicitor partners, DAC Beachcroft, to develop this guide to outline some of the key potential threats and what employers should be considering while running their business.

Three key focuses in the document are:

  • Working from home
  • The return to the workplace
  • Claimant solicitor behaviour

We provide examples of claims in respect of each of these areas and offer guidance to your clients around Employer’s Liability insurance, their responsibilities as an employer and what tangible actions they can be taking to help defend these claims if and when they do arise.

It’s all part of our aim to ensure your clients can get #backtobusiness safely.

We hope you find this guide of interest and ask that you share with any clients you think may find this useful.
