New API launched to simplify the claims process for Acturis brokers
Aligned to our continued investment in digital capability, we’re thrilled to announce we’ve partnered with Acturis to launch a new application programming interface (API). If you're an Acturis user, this is designed to save you time by streamlining the claims process, from notification through to closure/completion.
Understanding what’s important to you shapes each digital enhancement we make, and this is no exception. Developed as a direct result of broker feedback, you told us double-keying remains an industry-wide frustration, so we’ve done something about that.
This is the first claims API from any insurer integrated with the Acturis system and is available for all personal and commercial lines motor, property, and liability claims. It provides a seamless, one-way transfer of individual claim records and updates directly from our claims system into the Acturis system, reducing the need for on-demand updates and manual entry of data.
How it works
When you notify us of a claim (electronically or by phone), it’s set up on Aviva’s system. This information will be automatically transferred into Acturis and a new claims record will be created. You’ll no longer have to set up new claims on Acturis yourself, saving precious time.
Any subsequent updates we make to the claim such as payments or changes to reserves, will be made to the claim record on Acturis too. You can continue to use tasks in Acturis to manage the claims as you do today.
Key benefits
- Simplified processes: fewer manual steps to set up new claims and update existing claims records
- Staying up to date: receive automatic updates on existing claims records on the Acturis system
- Enhanced visibility: see claims updates directly in the Acturis system, including those directly reported by customers or notified online via Notify Claim
- Free to use: there are no fees for brokers to set up or use the broker API
How to get involved
The API is currently being piloted with a select number of brokers, with a full rollout from Q1 2025. If you’d like to get involved now, you can register your interest to use this new functionality through your Aviva Claims Service Manager or through your Acturis Account Manager.
Ryan Birbeck, Commercial Claims Director, Aviva, said,
“We’re thrilled to introduce this innovative Broker API in collaboration with Acturis. This underscores our commitment to improving efficiency and responsiveness through real-time sharing of updates on claims. Enhancing our claims services for our broker partners is central to our plans, their feedback is crucial so that we continuously improve our propositions. The Broker API is an exciting development and it's great to see so many brokers keen to access its capabilities in 2025."
James Aston, Head of Roadmap & Partnerships, Acturis, said,
“At Acturis, we are committed to help drive digital transformation for our customers. We are delighted to have partnered with Aviva to create our new claims download functionality which enables our brokers to deliver faster and more efficient solutions. We see this as a huge step forward within the market, and expect to see a movement toward an automated, electronic approach to claim notifications in the future.”
You’ll have seen and hopefully benefitted from a number of enhancements this year already, but there’s much more to come in 2025.
