Do you cover let properties, including if they’re let to family members?

Cover may be available for Let Properties provided that:

  • The policy is in the name of a private individual(s) only
  • The property isn’t sub-let

There’s a tenancy agreement in place – please note, no tenancy agreement is required if let to immediate family – brother, sister, parents, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, grandparents or grandchild

  • The tenants are in employment or retired

What let properties can we not offer cover for?

  • Properties let to students
  • Where properties are let directly to the Department for Work & Pensions who then control who lives in the property or the rent is covered by the Department for Work & Pensions (formerly DSS) and the tenancy agreement is between the policyholder and the tenant directly (this will include tenants who are unemployed due to disability or redundancy).

If it’s disclosed that the customer has 3 or more let properties, please speak to take a look at our Property Owners product.
