Fast Trade: introducing an automatic uplift to 24 months BI indemnity period
We know how important it is that your clients have the right protection in place when the unexpected happens. If a client’s Business Interruption cover is inadequate, a business may not be able to cover the full loss of earnings, particularly if recovery takes longer than expected.
At Aviva, we’re committed to helping you support your SME clients to build resilience and provide the right levels of cover, helping them to get back to business should they suffer unexpected setbacks. That’s why we’re delighted to introduce an automatic uplift to the standard Business Interruption (BI) indemnity period to 24 months, across selected Fast Trade commercial products, at no additional cost to your clients’ insurance premiums. The sum insured will be uplifted proportionately. This enhancement applies to Commercial Combined, Office & Surgery and Property Owners policies.
Why are we making this change?
Recovery time after a loss is often underestimated. Factors such as supply chain delays, planning permissions and the time needed to win back customers can all extend the recovery period.
Having the appropriate indemnity period is critical to avoid underinsurance and make sure a business can recover to its pre-loss position, not just reopen its doors. A 12-month period is often insufficient, so by providing an indemnity period of 24 months, we’re helping make sure your clients have more time and the support to rebuild, rehire and regain lost customers.
This change will be applied to new Commercial Combined, Office & Surgery, and Property Owners business traded via Fast Trade from 20 October 2025 and applied to renewals from 30 November 2025.
