James Rayner
Business Development Manager
What is your role?
Supporting our financial advisers in getting the most out of our products in both Annuities & Equity Release for the benefit of their customers.
How long have you worked for Aviva/been in the industry?
I started working at Aviva in March 2020 about 3 weeks before the first covid lockdown. I then moved across to the retirement team and have been here ever since.
Describe a typical day/week in your role
A typical day or week in my role revolves heavily around adviser contact. We have meetings here and there but generally it’s speaking with and supporting my panel of advisers.
What is the thing you’re most proud of that has benefited advisers?
Ultimately, I think it’s being recognised as having helped an adviser (or customers) in the past. We had an adviser who came back to the market recently after a long lay off and she asked who her BDM was. When sales support told her it was me, apparently, she remembered me straight away and was thankful I was still her BDM! After that, we had a great reintroduction and picked up where we left off.
