Employees are embracing rapid digital health support

Our 2025 Aviva protection wellbeing data shows growing engagement with flexible and preventative digital health services, reinforcing the added value advisers can deliver.

Rising usage of the Aviva DigiCare+ Workplace and Aviva DigiCare+ apps highlights how digital health support is becoming an essential part of the employee benefits package for employers, and a valuable addition to Individual Protection for customers.

Aviva DigiCare+ Workplace is available to employees insured under a Group Protection policy, supporting employers to look after their people with everyday access to practical wellbeing services.

Aviva DigiCare+ is available with eligible Individual Protection policies, giving customers access to digital wellbeing services alongside their financial protection.

These apps complement the financial protection offered through a policy, helping people take action earlier and manage their wellbeing day to day.

Across both apps, usage continues to grow, showing how people are increasingly turning to flexible and preventative support as part of their everyday wellbeing.

All usage statistics referenced reflect combined engagement across Aviva DigiCare+ Workplace and Aviva DigiCare+ apps.

Engagement continues to grow across both apps

  • Over 95,000 newly registered
  • more than 351,000 total registered users

This upward trend reflects a shift in behaviour – people are taking a more proactive approach to managing their physical and mental wellbeing. At the same time, employers are increasingly looking for benefits that support absence management, productivity and long‑term health, not just claims payouts.

For advisers, this reinforces the role Group Protection plays as a holistic wellbeing solution, not simply an insurance product.

Early insights through ‘at home’ Health Checks

Preventative health continues to be a key driver of engagement.

  • More than 46,000 Finger‑prick Health Checks completed
  • Each test assesses 20 different health markers, with a full digital report provided

Health Check results highlight the importance of early intervention:

  • 67% flagged cholesterol levels outside the normal range
  • 59% showed abnormal liver health readings

Crucially, this insight led to action. More than 17,000 people who completed a Health Check went on to book a complimentary follow‑up GP appointment through the app.

For employers, this health insight supports earlier conversations, quicker treatment and potentially reduced long‑term absence. For advisers, it’s a powerful way to demonstrate real-world value beyond the policy document.

Fast access to Digital GP appointments

With video and phone appointments available quickly, employees can get advice without long waits or time-consuming surgery visits – helping employers benefit from a more available and productive workforce. Earlier access can also help prevent minor concerns escalating, supporting better health outcomes and potentially fewer days lost to sickness absence.

  • Over 61,000 Digital GP appointments booked
  • 98.5% of users or eligible family members had a private GP within just three hours of booking
  • Most common reasons for appointments were skin complaints (including mole checks), joint and muscular pain and cold and flu symptoms

Supporting mental health when it’s needed most

Mental health support remains in strong demand, reflecting wider pressures across the UK workforce.

  • Over 23,000 mental health consultations booked
  • 98% took place within three hours of booking

The most common reasons for seeking support were anxiety, depression or low mood and stress.

For advisers, this is a strong reminder of the role Group Protection plays in supporting both absence prevention and rehabilitation, particularly when mental health remains a leading cause of long-term absence.

Personalised support with nutrition consultations

Lifestyle support also remains an important part of the Aviva DigiCare+ Workplace and Aviva DigiCare+ offerings.

  • More than 10,000 nutrition consultations completed
  • Every customer received their consultation within two days

Employees received personalised plans to support healthier eating habits, helping them make sustainable changes that can positively impact long-term health and wellbeing.

Jamie Begley, Aviva Protection Wellbeing Propositions Manager explains:
