Celebrating one year of our Onshore Bond
Onshore Bond celebrates its first birthday!
Since launch, our Onshore Bond has been fully integrated into the Aviva Adviser Platform, giving you access to a flexible, tax-efficient wrapper with over 6,000 funds and models to support your clients.
Onshore Bonds in a changing tax landscape
With the IHT nil-rate band frozen until April 2031 and defined contribution pensions included in IHT calculations from April 2027, advisers are seeing planning conversations evolve as these changes start to impact many more clients.
There have also been changes to Capital Gains Tax (CGT), with rates increasing in the 2024 Budget, alongside a separate reductions in the Annual Exempt Amount from a high of £12,300 down to £3,000. These changes are prompting advisers to revisit how investments are structured.
As a result, Onshore Bonds are becoming a more mainstream option in tax and investment planning, offering a flexible way to manage investments and consider longer-term wealth transfer.
Shaped by your feedback
Lorna Whalley, Director, Aviva Retail Platform, said:
"Investment Bonds are becoming an increasingly important part of tax planning, with more clients likely to face inheritance tax (IHT) considerations in the years ahead.
We’ve shaped our Onshore Bond around adviser feedback, focusing on making it straightforward to use day to day.
Fully integrated into the Aviva Adviser Platform, it provides a single place to manage client investments alongside the features advisers already use."
You can view a client’s full portfolio in one place, as well as quote, apply and withdraw online. A comprehensive selection of trusts – including Discounted Gift, Flexible Reversionary and Loan trusts – also support a range of planning scenarios.
The Onshore Bond replaces the off-platform Select Investment Growth and Income Option Bond and forms part of Aviva’s ongoing platform streamlining programme. You can also access CPD-accredited articles and videos via the Technical Hub to support your knowledge and client conversations.
What are the charges?
The Aviva charge for the Onshore Bond aligns with our ISA and investment portfolios, with a standard charge of 0.25% on combined values up to £400,000 and 0.15% above this threshold. This takes into account holdings across Aviva Platform products.
